Day 29, from l’Aber Wrac’h to Camaret

Thursday, 19th September

Who wrote “On a sailboat, you know where you’re going when you’ve arrived” ?

Our next stopover was initially Port Tudy, on the island of Groix. But as is often the case, “dynamic” management will take us to Camaret.

There are two reasons for this.

The first, planned, is the need to find a dryer, the one on L’Aber Wrac’h not having worked. All our laundry was still soaked !

The second, unforeseen, is an eyelet on a mainsail panel that was torn off during a false maneuver.

As the Paradox sail panels are independent, we remove the damaged panel so we can take it in for repairs, and continue under the mizzen alone.

Concerned about timing, we contact a sail repairman long before arriving, a rather unpredictable character who gives us an appointment that he will only honor several hours later, at his own convenience.

Despite our growing doubts, the work is still done and the sail panel is brought back to us in the evening.

At 8:30pm, the sail panel is put back in place, the laundry is finally dry, and we go celebrate with a plate of moules marinière in a restaurant in the port.
No more fish & chips!
