Day 22, from Malahide to Kilmore Quay

We have decided not to stop in Arklow.

91 nautical miles separate us from Kilmore Quay, and we cast off at 5 a.m.

A good north-easterly fills our sails and we sometimes sail up to 9 knots.

But after about ten hours, huge clouds darken the sky and the wind abandons us.

We cover the last 30 miles under engine power and we moor at 8 p.m. at Kilmore Quay.

 

 

The late arrival deprives us of a harbor master’s office, toilets, and electricity.

Happy but tired, we give up on the pub, but the take-away near the port provides us with our last Irish fish & chips, which we eat on board.

After the meal, Brexit obliges, we complete our customs formalities on the internet: because the next day, we leave for Wales!
